The Leeward Space Foundation is sponsoring a National Cell Phone Recycling Campaign. Each
cell phone contains at least 8 hazardous materials that can pollute up to 132,000 Liters of ground water when
placed in a landfill. Help us keep our drinking water pure. What can you do to help? Three things:
1. Don't dispose of cell phones in the garbage, they end up in your landfills 2. Tell others not to dispose of
cell phones in the garbage. 3. Collect old cell phones from friends, family, neighbors, co-workers and anyone else and let
us recycle them. We can recycle cell phones and their batteries even if they no longer work.
If you decide to help by collecting cell phones in your area; acquire as many as possible, then DM
me at JPLSpace on Twitter or email me at info@leewardspacefoundation.org to let me know how many you have and give me an address so that I can send you a FedEx prepaid shipping label.
Then, just pack the phones very well, put the shipping label on and call FedEx to come by to pick up your box.
If you get a chance, let me know ahead of time that you will be collecting phones, so that I can be sure to have enough
shipping labels on hand.
Thanks ahead of time for what you do to protect our drinking water,
John Lee
